Have you heard any word on when the Fortress area is expected to open up?
Cheers,
Hi Diane, I’m afraid there is no word yet on when the Fortress trail will be re-opening to the public. Tracey will be talking through some access issues with Parks Victoria in the next week or so and she will hopefully be able to reply to your comment in more detail.
Hi Diane,
I was speaking recently to the Walking Tracks Ranger at Halls Gap and enquired about the Fortress.. Whilst he said the track itself didn’t look like it had suffered too badly, the main problem is that there is still so much debris and now, overgrown vegetation that obliterates it ,making it near impossible in sections to see where the track is supposed to go. It is scheduled to be worked on and there was a suggestion that if all went perfectly to plan, it may be open before Easter. In saying that, I wouldn’t place all your bets on that and if you are doing any planning with that area in mind, I would have backup plans of other options to save disappointment.
